Created to Create
Hi! I’m Rachael. About me personally…
I have had the joy of being married these last 18 years to my love of a husband, Matt. We have 3 kids we’re crazy about, a home we may never be finished remodeling in Northern California, which we share (in addition to the kids)with a dog, cat, bunny and a leopard gecko. If I couldn’t be a painter I would be a gardener because…flowers. My favorite medium is watercolor but I thoroughly enjoy oil and acrylic as well.
About my creative history…
I have always had a creative nature, I came by it honestly. When I was a child my maternal Grandmother and I would make up stories around the flowers we picked outside, and the animals that we imagined made homes for themselves there. She would let me help her with her window displays in her store and thumb through all the antique buttons and ribbons she always had on display. My paternal great grandmother found her self middle aged and in need of a hobby to lift her spirits. She took up oil painting and painted fine china. She was famous for her namesake paintings, Roses. She would often attempt to teach me or my cousins some artful thing, sewing or drawing or otherwise but I was too young at the time to enjoy those lessons for the treasure they were. Even my great grandfather was an oil painter who painted me a jack rabbit in a field with a bright yellow background. Almost everywhere I turned I had a creative family influence.
I have always loved creating with my hands, and I have warm, fun, beautiful, loving memories instilled in me around creating. However, the most powerful thing is the connection I feel to God in the act of creating. What a blessing to be able to walk through and see the endless inspiration of nature, of all that God made, the work of the author of all creativity. This is where I find and source my own inspiration and hope. It is my honor to share that hope with you here….and hopefully a little fun along the way.
All the Best-
Rachael
